Obituary

Mr. Vernon Cheeks was born December 11, 1956, in Laurens County to Ms. Josie Mae Nance and the late Casper Winphire. After a long fight, he entered into eternal rest on August 29, 2026, at Martha Franks in Laurens, South Carolina. Vernon attended Clinton High School and was employed at Jostens in Laurens, South Carolina, for many years. He was a member of Antioch AME Church in Clinton, South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and a lifelong friend, Ms. Ada Walker. He leaves to cherish his fond memories two daughters, Tiashunti (Jason) Devette and Vernesha (Man) Cheeks; three sons, Marcus (Fran) Cheeks, Jaqual Cheeks, and Randall (Ariana) Cheeks; eight granddaughters, Kailey Cheeks, Khloe Cheeks, Chloe Cheeks, Price Cheeks, Laila Devette, Jada Cheeks, Journee Cheeks, and Ayziah Cheeks; five grandsons, Devon Cheeks, Zavier Devette, Benjamin Devette, Mason Cheeks, and Qu'ran Pulley; two stepchildren, David Jerome Day and Jamel Coleman; ten sisters and four brothers; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews; a devoted friend, Lisa Copeland; and six close friends, Harvey Philson, Willie Winphire Jr., Richard Montgomery, Calvin Miller, Rudolph Powers, and June Tribble.
