Mrs. Willie Mae
Tolbert
d. Jul 4, 2026
Greenwood, SC
Remembering without ceasing, your work of faith and labor of love and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father.
Ms. Willie Mae Tolbert was born in Gray Court, SC in 1948 to the late Mary Frances Jennings Workman and James Tolbert. She attended the public schools of Laurens County.
She began working at an early at Greenwood Mills and the Inn on the Square. Most of her employment years were at Wesley Commons where she served faithfully as a housekeeper. She took great pride in her work and the residents loved her dearly. Willie Mae retired in the summer of 2005 which gave her more time to devote to her true passion—her garden. Her yard reflects her passion as a self taught master gardener. Willie Mae received numerous Yard of the Month awards over the years and took great care and pride in her beautiful roses, elephant ears and many other flowering plants.
On Saturday, July 4, 2026 Willie Mae Tolbert took her Savior’s hand and entered eternal rest in Greenwood SC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Suzie Jennings of Laurens, SC and Mary Watts of Mountville, SC.
Ms. Willie Mae Tolbert has found her place of perfect peace free from care. She will be deeply missed by the children she raised, Sherry Watts and Bobby Watts, Jr. Those left to cherish her precious memory include, her loving and devoted siblings: Johnny Jennings, Jr. (Rebecca) of Waterloo, SC, Lucille Pressley of Capitol Heights, MD, Geraldlynn Jennings of Greenwood, SC, Margaret Boyd and Elizabeth Scurry, both of Laurens, SC; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Willie Mae leaves footprints of kindness, love, compassion, inspiration and joy on the hearts of family and friends. Her love is forever our guide.
