Mr. Lavassit Wendell Madden

Mr. Lavassit Wendell Madden of Fountain Inn, South Carolina departed this life on Thursday, July 9th, 2026.

He was born in Laurens County, South Carolina on May 18, 1978, to Mattie Madden and the late Johnny Belton Madden.

Lavassit, affectionately known as “Poo” by family and friends, dedicated his career to Greenville County Schools, where he made a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues. A talented athlete, he was a former football, baseball, and basketball player who continued his passion for sports by coaching and mentoring young athletes. His commitment to helping others both on and off the field will be remembered by all who knew him. Above all else, Lavassit loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and proud grandfather. His greatest joy was spending time with his loved ones, especially his granddaughter, Kori, whom he deeply admired and cherished. He was known for his strong mind, unwavering determination, and the strength of his convictions. His presence, guidance, and love will be profoundly missed.

Lavassit is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Madden of Fountain Inn, South Carolina; his mother, Mattie Madden of Gray Court, South Carolina; his sons, Kijana Madden of Bessemer City, North Carolina (Christen Ledford), Lavassit Madden of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, Jeremiah Madden of Fountain Inn, South Carolina, and Zacchaeus Madden of Fountain Inn, South Carolina; his cherished granddaughter, Kori Madden of Bessemer City, North Carolina, along with Akira and Aiden Big of Bessemer City, North Carolina; and his brothers, Courtney Madden of Mauldin, South Carolina, and Corey Madden of Gray Court (Katie Voege), South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Belton Madden.

Lavassit’s legacy will live on through the lives he touched as a coach, mentor, family man, and friend. He will be remembered for his strength, his love for sports, his dedication to his family, and the lasting impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him. Though he is gone from our sight, his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
