John Kevin Rice

Mr. John Kevin Rice was born February 2, 1978, in Laurens, South Carolina to Emma Foster and Johnny Boyd.

Throughout his life, Kevin worked for Williams Telecom Network, but he was most known for his barbering skills, which he practiced until his health declined. A well-known presence in the Laurens community, Kevin will be remembered for his friendly, easygoing nature. He had a natural ability to connect with others, often making people feel like part of his own family. A dedicated Miami Dolphins fan, Kevin took great joy in the time he spent with friends and family. He was affectionately known by all as the "fun uncle" or "fun cousin."

On Thursday, July 2, 2026, at his home in Gray Court, South Carolina, Mr. John Kevin Rice departed this life for his new home in eternity at the age of forty-eight.

He is survived by his parents: Emma Foster of the home and Johnny Boyd of Laurens, SC; his brothers: Samuel (Angelia) Burnside of San Antonio, TX, Larry Rice of Laurens, SC, Kenneth (Maryann) Rice of Jacksonville, FL, and Marquael (Charlene) Brasley of Greenville, SC; his sisters: Carrie Rice and Keeshia Rice both of Laurens, SC, Karisha Rice of Spartanburg, SC, and Jacqueline (Kevin) Boyd Brown of Lyman, SC; five children: Inaisha Owens of Spartanburg, SC, Isaiah Owens of Laurens, SC, Kemiya (Kiyona) Smith of Simpsonville, SC, Myjia Rice of Gray Court, SC, Ja’Mauri Williams of Clinton, SC, and Nyle Bryant of Laurens, SC; and one grandchild, Kha’lyrian Williams of Clinton, SC.

He is additionally survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and an extensive network of friends who were like family.
