Obituary

Evangelist Loretta Simpson, age seventy-four of Laurens, South Carolina, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on September 6, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 15, 1952 to the late Deacon Hubert Simpson and Sister Juanita Daye Simpson.

Evangelist Simpson was a graduate of the Bell Street High School Class of 1970 and attended Piedmont Technical College. She furthered her education at Divinity and Theological School earning her certification in Christian and Family Counseling.

She was employed for many years as a makeup consultant. She was known as the Queen of makeup. She was also formerly employed at Presbyterian College as well as in the manufacturing industry. She later became a foster grandparent at the YMCA Development Center until her health slowly began to decline earlier this year. Oh, how she loved her babies.

Evangelist Simpson answered a divine calling in life, dedicating over forty years to laboring faithfully in ministry. She was a tireless servant of the Gospel, known for her unwavering faith, deep love for God’s word, and enduring Warfare Ministry.

Throughout her decades of service, Loretta evangelized and led numerous outreach initiatives, including women outreach programs. She poured her life into counseling the hurting, mentoring future leaders, and preaching the message of grace with clarity and passion. Her ministry was not defined merely by titles, but by the countless lives transformed through her selflessness and devotion. She never truly stopped ministering, always offering a word of encouragement, a listening ear, and a prayer to anyone in need. In her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking, baking, crafting, and spending time with family. She was a pillar member of Chosen Generation Ministry Worship Center in Laurens, South Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Hilda Jean Ruth and Rhoda Simpson.

Evangelist Simpson is survived by her beloved children: Bryant (Daphne) Cheeks and Dana Lee; a special daughter, Apostle Treca Deshields; her grandchildren: Chelsea Cheeks, Shaqualla Hurst, Tyisha Cheeks, Alexus Cheeks, Josiah Stewart, Bryant “Jay” Cheeks, Zipporah Scurry, Jairus Scurry, and Javen Cheeks; three great grandchildren with one due in December; one sister, Audrey Brown; one brother, Wallace (Wanda) Simpson; two adoptive brothers: Marcus Chalmers and Herman Calhoun; two special sisters: Rosa Nelson and Shirley Walker; nieces and nephews: Wallace (Precious) Simpson, Latoya Simpson, and Stan Brown; one aunt, Rochelle Young; and a host of extended family, spiritual children, church family and friends who were blessed by her leadership.

While we mourn the loss of a spiritual giant, we rejoice in knowing she has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
