Ms. Barbara Goodjoin Freeman was born on August 5, 1942, In Laurens County, South Carolina, to Manuel Goodjoin and Sadie Virginia Cleveland Goodjoin. She was educated in the public schools of Laurens, South Carolina.

At an early age, Barbara joined Mill Rock Baptist Church in Gray Court, South Carolina where she was a member of the choir. After many years of employment, she retired from Kemet.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Jennie Mae Goodjoin Latimer. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, two goddaughters: Tammy Harris Shaw Carolina and Angela Cleveland Morton both of Gray Court, South Carolina; one niece, Marilyn L. Wideman of Gray Court, South Carolina; two nephews: Russell Latimer and Anthony (Cheryl) Latimer both of Laurens, South Carolina.
